News:Marlboro Fly Fishing Show
1/15/2010
The Marlboro Fly Fishing Show, held January 15, 16 & 17 at the Royal Plaza, was by all accounts, a grand success. In speaking to John Shaner of the venerable Hardy & Greys, the daily attendance was up from previous years. This year there were many bargains to be had with great buys on rods, reels, tying materials, tying components and vices. There was also an ambiance of friendly cooperation between vendors. For instance, when someone needed a vice at the show, the Regal Vice people did not hesitate to offer what was needed. It all combined to make a very enjoyable venue.
Charlie Chute, world renowned fly tier, could be found at the show in the Tiers Cor-ner. When I met up with Charlie, he was tying a feather winged Black Doctor. On display at his booth was a collection of Atlantic salmon feather winged flies tied to perfection as only Charlie can tie. Another great Atlantic salmon tier, Roger Plourde, was tying a mag-nificent Silver Doctor. Whenever you are at a fly show stop by and watch the masters at work. It will always be educational.
