La Chapelle
Located on the Matapedia River in Roithierville, Quebec, overlooking one of the premiere salmon pools, the Routhierville Pool, La Chapelle Lodge is exactly as the name implies, a former chapel. When Routhierville was in its prime and flourishing, the charming little chapel served as both school house and chapel to the 200 families who resided in the logging town. Now all that remains are six houses and two full time residents.
La Chapelle was converted into a salmon camp years ago by Dr. and Mrs. LeClerc. The dear Doctor has passed on, but we are fortunate to have Mrs. Jeanine LeClerc in residence from time to time. Jeanine is a gracious, strikingly handsome woman who is a font of knowledge with regard to the history of Routhierville, the residence and the salmon fishing. La Chapelle has 4 single beds with fluffy comforters, a four footer cast iron tub, shower, full kitchen with all the amenties and an outdoor gas grill. For your convenience, we have left the confessional door intact. Hey what happens in Routhierville, stays in Routhierville. The little village has its own covered bridge and an old railroad station where Jim Carter stayed while fishing the Matapedia River. Visit our Photo Gallery here
